If you’re anything like me, You’ve seen a lot of sponsored posts about all the different versions of the wet-dry vacuum from Tineco. It piqued my interest and I wanted to try it for myself and see if it is worth all the hype. Here are my honest thoughts on the Tineco S5 PRO 2 mop vac.

Why I Chose The Tineco Floor ONE S5 PRO 2 Series
I took a lot of time to look through all the different versions and I knew I wanted a S5 or newer. This is because they made the water tank larger for these versions as well as made at least one of the sides to be able to mop all the way to the edge of the vacuum.
The mop being able to reach the edges was a must for me as I wanted to use this for mopping my floors regularly and not just picking up messes. If I got an older version I would’ve had to put out another mop at the end to get all the edges that the mop missed.
I ended up going with the S5 because of the price point and I did not see anything in the S6 and S7 that the S5 could not do that mattered to me. For the S7, both sides can reach the edges which would be a nice feature, but I did not see enough value in the upgrade to spend hundreds more when the S5 could reach the edges as well from one side. It just means I have to make sure I’m coming from the correct direction when I am near a wall or edge.
I chose the Pro 2 version because it has the feature of electrolyzing the water. This makes it so you are able to mop just using water, leaving the cleaner for bigger messes or deep cleans which saves money. It also is able to just vacuum. These 2 features have been nice to have and I am happy with the decision I have made to get the upgraded version of the S5.

Maintenance of the vacuum
This category was really important to me because if I was going to invest this much into a mop I wanted it to not be a hassle to maintain or clean, especially with it claiming to be self-cleaning.
The problem I had with traditional mops was needing to clean the head often while mopping and cleaning the mop head and letting it dry was an inconvenience or in the way. I did not like touching the dirt and grim that was on the mop heads. The goal was to no longer deal with those things.
One thing to note before deciding if this mop is right for you is that it is not fully self-cleaning. It does require some cleaning, but I would say it eliminates the gross aspect of cleaning a mop pretty well. The parts that you need to rinse out or wipe down are easily cleanable, unlike vacuum canisters that have crevices that sometimes feel impossible to reach or clean. I really am happy with how the parts you need to clean are easy and simple to reach and clean. It also only takes me a few minutes total if that to clean the few parts it does need to be cleaned.
The things you need to clean:
- Dirty water tank
- Clean water tank
- Brush roller– rinse it off if needed and let air dry out of the machine
- Brush roller cover
- The tube
- Charging base– if it got dirty
How it Preforms
If you are someone wanting to use this for normal mopping and not only picking up messes on the floor this section is for you! I was skeptical on how it would preform completing normal mopping tasks since most of the ads I saw were picking up messes that fell on the floor. I am pretty happy with the results!
Using just water
The electrolyzing only takes up to a minute to prepare so you can start cleaning quickly. I didn’t know how long any of the functions took when I bought it so I was happy that each one was short.
Water did well, not for tougher things or deep cleans but for maintenance cleans, which I am happy with. Even with water only the canister still collected a lot of brown water.
Overall, I am impressed with how well it cleaned my floors without cleaner or steam. I will be using this feature often and only using cleaner when needed or to do a deep clean.
Self cleaning
Self-cleaning only takes about a minute.
First time after maybe five minute it told me to self clean which was odd. It will still do this from time to time because the tube gets clogged. It’s a little annoying, but it only takes a minute to fix and you’re back to cleaning. Though if you are using cleaner and this happens it’s more frustrating because you are wasting cleaner.
Dirt detection
To get stuck on things you will just go over the spot many times. I had to to it quit a few times, but I didn’t mind since I wasn’t the one scrubbing the floor or using cleaning solution.
The dirt detector isn’t that smart, so you need to pay attention to the colors since that’s the only way it signifies it’s a dirty area which takes some time to adjust to since you are used to watching the floors. It also is not good at detecting the tiny dirt spots so you need to notice those and go over them multiple times with a back and forth motion. It got most spots but definitely not all.
Battery life
The battery does not last long and battery takes a while to charge. You will need to use the battery life wisely and leave some for it to go through it’s self cleaning cycle at the end.
Some random things I noted were:
Really good self-propel!
It dries pretty quickly, steaks are few.
Need to hit corners and edges coming from the right side of the vacuum hitting the edge with the front will leave an inch or two cap of untouched area.
Using the vacuum
Once you get the vacuum set up the directions aren’t very detailed making using it the first time kind of intimidating. The menu options are not explained well. They just have the names, to get to the water electrolyzer setting you need to put into the 3rd mode. I think the modes could be set up much better.
It’s odd to get to that function. You need to start the vacuum, then get to that mood, sit it back up for it to complete the process(or hold onto it), and once done then you can start. This is something that feels not fully thought out. It’s not a terrible inconvenience, it’s just a thing worth noting.
Once you get to mopping it tells you what to do which is nice. If it needs a self-cleaning cycle run mid mop it will tell you. When you put it on it’s stand it will tell you if you need to run a cleaning cycle as well. It also will let you know when you need to clean the dirty water tank. It has not told me when my clean water is out so I have run out without noticing. I do think when the dirty water tank is full and it tells you to empty it that means to fill the clean tank as well.
You can definitely hear it, the voice isn’t too loud but is still loud. It talks to you only when needed. It’s persistent though when you dock the mop vac it will say what it wants you to do to maintenance the pieces and if you don’t almost right away it will repeat it’s self. It’s not a quiet thing to do. The talking and the machine running make a good amount of noise. The self cleaning makes noise but not too loud.
The piece is light enough since you have to lift it up to get it on it’s charging base, but at the same time feels very sturdy. It feels like you are getting a quality piece. It sits kinda odd on the charging base, leaning forward.
What I’d change
Other than what I stated above there isn’t much I’d change. It would be nice to have a separate tray to hold the drying pieces of the mop vac including both tanks. I ended up buying a collapsible drying rack for it. This has worked well for me to hold the parts that need to dry off of the machine. Click here to check out the drying wrack I purchased.
Final Thoughts
I am happy with my purchase. I love to mop now and maintaining the piece is a breeze. Knowing what I do know after owning this piece for awhile I would still recommend this piece to people that want routine mopping to be easier.
