It’s easy to see the hards in your daily life and take a bit more intentionality to see all the goods. I thought it would be fun to talk about some of the goods for me because everyone is different and the season of life they’re in. Seeing a positive perspective on life is also refreshing.
I am currently a stay at home wife, 7 months pregnant and have a 5 month old puppy along with a 12 year old cat. My day to day will surely change so much in these coming months to years and as I leave this season of life I wanted to talk about all the beauty I’ve seen in this current season.
Things I love in this season of homemaking
My me time in the mornings
My mornings is something I am so grateful for. During this season of not having kids I have been able to wake up slowly and spend some time doing things I’d like to do before getting into the day. Slow mornings may not be a thing for me for a while, but it is something I hope to be intentional about getting back in some shape or form when possible.
My mornings currently do not have a set structure other than letting our puppy out and playing with her. Each morning I get to see what feels good for me. Some days I’m ready to eat right when I get up and others it’ll be hours. Some days I will want to sit quietly reading a book and others I want the home to be lively. No matter what I am doing it is something that make me feel good and isn’t spent doing things for the home or family.
This is something I am truly blessed to have experienced and I am so grateful for. Even in high school this is something I prioritized. Having me time before my day started. I’d give myself an hour to do whatever I wanted and would fill my cup before needing to start my day and get ready. It’s something that truly makes a difference in my day.
Once our boy is here I will try to find ways to continue this me time routine and I’m sure it’ll look different in all the different phases we will go through.
My home
This is such a simple one to be grateful for. I will often look around and just be so grateful for the home and space we have. We are so blessed to have a place we call home and can relax and enjoy in. It is truly an answered prayer.
I am also in love with getting to make it as functional as it can be for us. There has been many hours of thought and research behind what we can do to make our home the best it can be for our home. I am so grateful that we have been able to make it something that is truly tailored to us and our wants and needs.
I am also thankful for the ability to decorate and style our home to make it a place that sparks joy often for me. I have been loving creating a space that I love to look at. It truly is the simple things that make my heart so happy when it comes to our home.
Getting to make things for my family
I love getting to make things for my family. Whether that is making dinner or making something that will serve our home like curtains. No matter what it is I am grateful I can serve my family in this way. It’s also cool to look around the home and see all the intentional spaces I created to bless the family.
Getting to use my hands and make things for my family adds a sense of pride to what I am doing for my family. Sometime this can get lost on me as I get busy, but when I take the time to think about the impact I am making for my family it reminds me of my why and that it’s not just because it needs done.
Our simple evenings
I am grateful for our simple evenings. This is another thing that I am sure will change a million times in all the upcoming phases of life, but for right now I am grateful for this phase. I love that we can pick up and go where ever we’d like whenever we’d like. I like that we can laze around if wanted or get house projects done. We really have full control of what each evening looks like.
I have been enjoying this spring sitting outside or going on a walk and just truly taking in the moment. I have been loving the warmer weather that we can go out and enjoy. I try not to take these seasons for grated because in fall and winter it’s not as enjoyable to be outside so I want to make sure we are taking the time to enjoy it while we have it.
My schedule
Like my evening routine I have the freedom to make plans on any given day or time. Each day I can get different things done when needed and work around different things that is on my schedule. This is such a blessing.
I enjoy being able to schedule appointments for whenever and I know I will be able to make it work relatively easy in my schedule. Not having set times I need to get chores or tasks done gives me the freedom to be able to do different things or schedules each day of the week if needed.
This has not only been blessing to me and my family, but also the one’s around me because I can typically make it work to help them out when needed, which is something I am really thankful to be able to do in this season.
This is something that will for sure change as I have someone’s schedule to follow, needing child care if it’s something he can’t do with me etc. While it will be different and will need more thought behind committing to plans I know I will still be so thankful for having a new sense of purpose in my days and schedule to follow.
Getting to put my full attention into what I am doing
It has truly been a season of being able to give it my all if wanted or needed to. I have been keeping this in mind as I know my attention will soon be split as a stay at home mom. I have been creating systems to streamline my house work, getting house projects done, etc. I know all my efforts I am making now will bless me in my new season of life where it would be much more difficult if I hadn’t or to do the projects in that season.
It is not lost on me how much of a blessing it is to be able to put my full attention into things while at home. As this comes to an end I am excited to have a new sense of purpose. I know it will be stressful and overstimulating at times, but at other times it will be such a blessing.
So I am soaking up this time and getting all that I can done so that I can truly enjoy having something new that needs my attention. I love this phase and I know I will absolutely love the next.
I am excited for what’s to come in my next season’s of homemaking
As I talk about what I am specifically grateful for in this season I am excited to see what beauty comes of the next and all the future seasons to come. Things will be always changing and look different and that’s beauty in its own. As we prepare to welcome our first child into this world and our home I look forward to that season and am soaking up all the beauty this this season has to offer.
I hope if you are in a transition season you can look forward to the beauty that is to come and be grateful for the beauty you had or currently have. Though you never may have this season’s beauty truly back you will always be able to be grateful for the time you did have. As the days goes on the new season will bring a new normal and you may find yourself wondering how you ever lived a day not like that.
Change is beautiful and scary. Beautiful to see all the growth and joy that can come out of it. Scary to leave the comfort and joy of what you are used to. There will be good and bad always, but I hope you look towards the joy and look back on your old seasons fondly instead of wishing for them back.
