When I made a baby registry with Amazon as well as Target, I was excited to see that both registries came with the benefit of getting a free baby welcome box. I have received both and I am here to share what I got in each company’s bags.
Knowing all the things to get your baby, yourself, and which brands is a hard task. I thought it was nice that they give these bags of free samples and some full-size products to people making baby registries. That way you can try out and see in person what some of the products you may or may not have been considering are like.
If you are able to use some of the products before the baby is here and you like them they are great options to add to your registry since you already know what to expect!
And who doesn’t like free stuff? Might as well take advantage of the offers and get them.
Amazon

How to get it: you must be a Prime member or otherwise you have to buy the bag if you would like to receive one. Once you add 10 different items to your registry and you or someone else buys $10 worth of things off of your registry you can request a bag to be sent.
What’s included: I do believe there are different versions of what’s inside the bag and it’s just the luck of the drawl on what you get put in yours.
These are all the items I received in my free baby welcome box:
- Gatorade Fit Watermelon Strawberry 16.9 FL OZ bottle
- Deft Stage 1: Newborn laundry detergent- 1 use sample pack
- Lansinoh Sample pack with Nursing Pads and Breast Milk Storage
- Amazing Baby Newborn Muslin Swaddle, zebra print with a white colored swaddle
- Dr. Brown’s Anti Colic baby bottle- with a level 1 flow rate and a 4oz bottle
- itzy ritzy sweetie soothers- 2 pack dark green and blue for 0m+
- Carter’s size 3-6m short-sleeved onesie- white onesie with black outlines of elephants, turtles, lions, and rhinos
- Aquaphor healing ointment baby- sample pack .14oz
- Palmer’s skin therapy oil and massage lotion for stretch marks- sample pack 20 ml each
- Traditional Medicinais care kit for mama- 2 wrapped tea bags of chamomile and lavender
- Some coupons and brochures from different brands
In total around 10 items, 5 of which are full-size items.
My Thoughts: The bag it comes in smells chemically at first. Worth noting due to how strong our smell is nowadays. It goes away and isn’t a big deal.
I was pleasantly surprised by some of the products that were included. I feel like the rules for getting the bag were fair for what’s in it. I think it was pretty cute things and not outdated or out-of-style pieces. I was kind of expecting to have some not so cute in my opinion items, but everything I received I thought was great! There are things in the welcome box we will love and look forward to using for sure.
In my opinion, the best items in the bag were the pacifiers, Dr. Brown’s bottle, the swaddle, and the onesie. I appreciated the onsie coming in a larger size as many people gift clothes for newborns so it’s nice to get something that will fit in a size we have less of. I also liked the Lansinoh sample pack, but it’s not a top item due to it being a sample and I will need to buy more. My top items are things that are full items that will be able to get many uses out of them without having to buy more to continue to use them.
Target

How to get: Unlike Amazon, there are no rules to getting the bag, but you do have to pick it up in-store, they will not ship it to you. All you need to do is sign up for a baby registry and go in and ask for a bag and have them scan the bar code that you will have. You may want to call ahead and ask if they have them in stock before going in if you are making a special trip for the bag. The first time I went in they ran out right before me. The second time I went it, weeks later they were stocked up again so I was able to pick mine up.
What’s included: Like Amazon, I do believe there are different versions of the bag so it’s a luck of the draw for what items you receive. Target does claim their bags are at least $100 in value.
These are all the items I received in my free baby welcome box:
- Millie Moon luxury diapers- 2 pack of size 1
- Huggies special delivery diapers- 3 pack of size 1
- Honest plant-based wipes- pack of 10 wipes

- Dr. Brown’s Anti Colic baby bottle- with a level 1 flow rate and a 4oz bottle
- Philips Avent Natural bottles- level 2 flow rate and a 4ox bottle
- Aveeno baby daily moisture wash and shampoo- 1 ft oz sample bottle
- Lansinoh sample pack- with 2 breast milk storage bags and 2 disposable nursing pads
- Triple Paste zinc oxide medicated diaper rash ointment- .40z sample
- Pedialyte electrolyte powder packet- 1 packet of grape-flavored
- Deft blissfuls in-wash scent booster- sample for 1 load

- Boogie Wipes gentle saline nose wipes- 1 wipe
- Palmer’s massage lotion for stretch marks- sample pack 20ml
- Dapple Baby bottle and dish soap fragrance-free- .45 fl oz sample pack
In total 16 items, 2 of which are full-size items(the 2 bottles).
My thoughts: I feel like Target is very generous with its welcome bag. It was packed full of items worth value in my eyes. This was nice to see as I was not expecting much since they did not have any rules to get the bag other than you need to pick it up.
In my opinion, the best items in the bag were the Dr. Brown bottle and the Phillips Advent bottle. They are actually the 2 types of bottles I have on my registry to have my baby try out to see if my baby will take them. As well as all the diapers and wipes to try out. I was excited to see Millie Moon as I was planning to try those out for my baby already. I am also excited about Huggies being included so that if I do not like the brands I have chosen for whatever reason or my baby does not react well to them I can try out the Huggies brand before buying a pack to try them out. The different brands of wipes are nice because I know babies can have reactions to them just like diapers and parents tend to have a preference so having samples to try and not having to pay for multiple brands just to see if I like them or not is amazing.
I am also excited to try out all of the other samples. I felt like they were all commonly used items by other moms and parents so I am excited to get to try them before spending money on each of the items.
Comparing the two welcome boxes
Target had more items in their bag and Amazon had more complete items. I felt like both boxes had great things included in them and both were worth getting the free boxes. I liked both for different reasons. I felt like Amazon had great practical items that my baby could use over and over again. While Target had great samples to try out many different brands of disposable items you will need in your home. You also need to find a brand that works best for you like the diapers and wipes.
I don’t feel like either box won over the other. They both will be useful, just in completely different ways. I am a first-time mom and I do not have my own preference on brands of wipes and diapers so that is something to consider as to why I see the Target welcome box as useful. Each baby is different and may have different sensitivities so even if you have a strong presence on the brands you like you may need to adjust for the next baby and these Target samples would come in handy.
Let this be your sign to get your free baby welcome box from your registry
If you haven’t already, take the steps to get your welcome box from any registry companies you have made one with if they offer one! They have some great things in there and are typically free or have small rules to receive one. If you qualify it’s worth getting.
Have some fun going through all the different items you got in your baby welcome boxes and see what’s different or the same as mine!
